Employers Love To Hire Job Wanted Ads

Filed under: Business, Jobs, Online, Professions

If you’re looking for a job, it isn’t always easy to find one. You can comb the employment section of area newspapers on a daily basis. Not all companies will post a help wanted ad when searching for new employees. From my own experience, it is not always beneficial to seek new employees in that manner because it creates a great amount of extra work. For example, a year ago I was seeking to hire an administrative assistant. I put a help wanted ad in our local newspaper, expecting to get some decent replies. Instead, I found myself staring at over 200 resumes after having it appear in just one newspaper publication. Suddenly, I needed to look over every single one of those resumes and ended up finding that almost half of those resumes were a complete waste of time. It amazes me how many people send resumes out just for the sake of sending them. After sorting through all of them, I eventually did find someone, but it took me nearly two weeks. I no longer have an interest in posting a help wanted ad. Quite a few companies feel the same way.

Instead, there are online job sites that you can post your own job wanted ad. No matter what position or career you may be seeking, you can list a job wanted ad. That way, employers can find you, instead of you having to find them. It is much simpler for everyone involved. I happen to know of two large companies, besides mine, who have resorted within the past year to finding employees in this manner. I’d much rather spend an hour looking over resumes online and people who have job wanted ads posted than combing through hundreds of pointless resumes. There are still those who will lie on their resumes or job wanted ads, but the chances are not as high as someone who just randomly sends out resumes.

Once I see a job wanted ad that interests me, I’ll contact that individual via email or phone. I can tell them about what I am seeking and give them some information, and they can decide on whether or not the position interests them. There are not as many games. Plus, I’m not wasting my time setting up lots of interviews when I really don’t even know what a person really wants. If they’ve taken the time to list a job wanted ad online, I know what they really are looking for.

If you are someone who is contemplating job searching or placing a job wanted ad, I advise you to do so. Let potential employers come to you. It will save you and the employers a lot of time and hassle. You may end up finding the job of your dreams by placing a simple job wanted ad.

Have A Fight With Contact Paper

Filed under: Bathroom, Bedroom, Clothing, Kitchen

When I was growing up we lived in an old farm house on a 160 acre dairy farm. The house had been remodeled over the years. Every so often my mother would get a whacky idea about how to redecorate. She would also plan intense spring and fall cleaning days. My mom worked in the food service at a local university. She would have off during the summer and each of the semester breaks and holiday breaks. This would be when the major cleaning would be planned.

For some reason the shelves in the cupboards were painted red. There was no sign of anything else ever being red in that kitchen. One year mom decided that the shelves should be covered in contact paper. She assigned this task to my sister and I. First we needed to take everything out of the cabinets and wash the shelving. The shelves were attached in the cabinets so they could not be removed. After washing out the cabinets we were to measure the contact paper and then place it down on the shelves. This did not seem like such a difficult task, however back then the contact paper is not as easy to handle as it is today.

Contact paper is a liner that has adhesive on the back. Some of it is made out of vinyl and others are made out of paper. The backing has a cover on that is pulled off to expose the adhesive. The adhesive is very sticky and once it has stuck to something it is very difficult to remove it. This meant that once the contact paper was on the shelving you could not adjust it, without risk of tearing it. Also if you were not careful there would be air pockets and creases forming.

My sister and I had quite a struggle with the first few shelves. The contact paper that mom bought was the vinyl kind and it had a strong smell to it. It also had huge yellow daisies on it. She had purchased the rolls of paper on sale so there were many of them. Once we were done with the shelves she had us clean our dresser drawers and use the contact paper to line the bottom of the drawers.

I never did understand lining shelves and drawers. I was very surprised a few days ago because I received a call from my sister. She told me that she was using contact paper to line her drawers and that reminder her of our spring cleaning project. I could not believe that she still lines her drawers. She said she has always done this because our mom did. I have never felt it necessary to line our dresser drawers.
