Orange Knees – Sunless Tanning Lotions

Now that we know it is very bad to lie in the sun covered with baby oil, women are looking for safer ways to get a nice summer tan. Though there is nothing that looks as good as a real tan will look, there are a great many ways to get something that does not look too bad. Many people like to use sunless tanning lotions to get that sun kissed look that we all want to have each year. They also use these to look tan all throughout the year.

I tried sunless tanning lotions for the first time right before my wedding. I did a lot of research on how to apply it because I didn’t want to make any mistakes. I tried to put on sunless tanning lotions months before my wedding so that I knew what I was doing. If I couldn’t make the sunless tanning lotions work, I would know before I was putting on my wedding gown to walk down the aisle. I didn’t want to look like an orange splotchy mess on my wedding day.

I found the using sunless tanning lotions was more of a hassle than I thought. You do have to make sure your skin is ready to accept the lotion before you apply. This means that you have to spend at least a week before your application scrubbing every inch of your body to make sure all rough spots are smoothed out. You also have to apply moisturizer to areas that might normally soak up a lot of the sunless tanning lotions. If you don’t do this, you will end up with orange knees and elbows. The pigment might also pool in areas on your feet and even your face.

You also have to have a lot of spare time to use sunless tanning lotions correctly. For most of them you have to take your time to make sure you are applying the lotion equally on each part of your body. You may have a hard time reaching your back. Make sure that you have a few hours to hang out naked after you apply sunless tanning lotions. You cannot sit down or put on clothing until the lotion has had time to sink into your skin or you will get it on your clothes and furniture. You have to scrub in each shower afterwards so you are not shedding tan skin onto your clothing. It can look great, but you should know it is a lot of work.

Sun Kissed Look Of Spray On Tans

Spray on tans seem to be all the rage lately and there is good reason for all the hype. We love the natural glow of sun kissed skin but getting the look naturally is close to impossible for many of us. There are some options to consider when choosing which spray on tans are right for you but you may want to look into why this approach is better than others.

We know that the sun isn’t our skin’s best friend. In fact, sun exposure is the number one cause of wrinkles. You can save yourself future Botox appointments if you stay out of the sun. This leaves you with dull, pale skin. Spray on tans are here to address the need for a sun kissed glow for those who want to keep sun exposure to a minimum.

Why not just go to a tanning salon? Well, the tanning booths aren’t much better for your skin than the sun is. Spray on tans don’t involve any harmful rays that can damage delicate skin. I assume that you know at least one person who worships the tanning booth and has the skin to prove it.

Spray on tans address the color of your skin, but it is purely topical. There are no rays that morph your body’s pigmentation. My history teacher used to call tans “skin damage” and she was pretty much on the mark in her estimation. Why risk damaging your skin when you can get comparable results with spay on tans.

When I say comparable, I do mean that the spray on tans are not created equally. You should probably invest in a treatment at a spa at first. Home spray on tans might be a little trickier. That is, unless you have a volunteer who is willing to put the product on your back.

You also have to consider your elbows and knees. Applying too much product on these areas will make them turn orange and uneven because the skin is rougher in these areas of the body. Spay on tans are difficult to maneuver and they tend to put on an even coat. This even coat is great for the rest of the body but you want a sparse amount on the knees and elbows. Completely skipping these areas will leave you with odd white spots that aren’t very attractive, either.

I like to use spray on tans with an additional product like tanning lotion or cloths. The lotions can be used to touch up the little details to bring the whole glow together. With products like these, I will never depend on the sun for tanning again.
