It Will Look Brand New - Carpet Cleaning

When I visited friends of mine who had just built their own house, I was too busy admiring the home to think about taking my shoes off. I feel badly about it now, but I had tracked dust in all over their brand new white carpeting. To my amusement, a burly construction guy was following me around with Resolve and some paper towels to clean up the damage. If you have white carpet, you probably feel their pain. When your carpets need help, carpet cleaning is far better than replacing, don’t you think?

There are two ways to keep things looking good. You can get regular carpet cleaning, or you can spot clean was you go. Many people use both types of carpet cleaning and don’t mind the expense. I guess when you buy a light colored carpet you almost know that carpet cleaning is going to be in your future. Some people put up with this hassle because they love the color, and the extra work does not bother them.

You can get carpet cleaning done by the professionals, and this is something that will make your life a whole lot easier. How your carpets will be cleaned will depend on who you hire. I have seen companies that have everything contained within their van. They simply run a very long hose and attachment into the home to clean the carpets. Others carry heavy equipment in for carpet cleaning. Either way, the carpets seem to be well cleaned and cared for.

I don’t know if many places offer this anymore, but you used to be able to go into a grocery store and rent equipment to do heavy duty carpet cleaning on your own. All you had to do was learn how to use the equipment and return it when you were done. There are also some expensive residential vacuums that also clean carpets with a special attachment. Both of these seem to work well.

For those pesky spots and dirt that is tracked in from outside, you can do your own spot carpet cleaning. There are many products you can buy, Resolve being one of the first ones that comes to mind. These are usually sprayed or deposited on the stain or spot and left to sit for a few minutes, and then blotted up with a paper towel or rag. Depending on what type of stain you have, this usually works rather well. If you have kids or pets, you better stock up.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider Repellent

Have you ever noticed that everyone is afraid of something? Now I’m not saying it’s something major, or even something realistic, but yet they are fearful of something. Take my mother for instance. The woman is terrified of snakes. As a child, I watched her encounter a garter snake in the backyard and she screamed like it was a serial killer with a kitchen knife. Oh well, it’s understandable I suppose. Personally, I tend to be wary of sharks. Although I think the ocean is beautiful, you won’t catch me out there deep sea diving. Getting your leg bitten off doesn’t sound exciting to me. But, isn’t there one common thing that most people fear? Of course there is. You know darn well what I’m referring to. SPIDERS! What is with these eight legged freaks? Folks are always so terrified of them, even though most are harmless. If this sounds all too familiar, I recommend you pick up some spider repellent.

In general I bash the summer months because they’re infused with insects. This gets old to me really fast. Any insect or bug you can imagine is out roaming around, most likely in a big swarm. Just as you step outside on the porch, you feel a soft web envelope your head. Now where do you suppose that spider is? Hmm, it’s truly hard to say. Obviously you’re not going to get rid of all webs with spider repellent. Spiders will continue to build them where ever they see fit. A cool fact about the spider web is that it’s the strongest fiber known to man. Naturally it’s not constructed by man, but by a simple arachnid. Anyway, you can use spider repellent to keep those irksome webs out of your personal space, such as your home. You may want to consider spraying spider repellent under your bed and in closet corners. Be sure to get the kids’ rooms. Small children often play, completely unaware of insects and bugs. It’s up to you to keep them safe and free of bites.

Let’s not forget about the mosquito spray as well. Spider repellent is more for the indoor areas. A good bug spray with DEET will benefit you outdoors. Be wary of the West Nile Virus and deer ticks, which carry Lymes Disease. Furthermore, some Raid will rid your home of any wasp nests. Saturate the nest and the wasps will die upon return.
